Is ';You have hit the nail on the head.'; an allusion?

This is referring to someone doing something that was the right thing to do and someone else comes back with ';You have in the nail on the head.';Is ';You have hit the nail on the head.'; an allusion?
It's more of a metaphor. It's comparing the exactness of what someone says with the act of hitting the nail on the head perfectly.Is ';You have hit the nail on the head.'; an allusion?
No, its an idiom. An idiom is a phrase whose meaning cannot be determined by the literal definition of the phrase itself, but refers instead to a figurative meaning that is known only through common use. This is a type of metaphor but is still specifically an idiom. Its very close to an allusion but an allusion is a reference in a work of art to another work of art, like a parallel to or a sort of nod to the other work.
Its actually a phrase used to tell somone they've summed something up well while knowing little about it - it comes from the literal meaning i.e. if you hit a nail square on the head you are accurate and the phrase is just that - another way of telling someone they have been accurate - in the same way that for example making a mountain out of a molehill is not a literal phrase but the meaning behind it is used - these phrases are kinds of metaphors.
no, it's more of a metaphore. an allusion is when you make reference to something that isn't really part of what you're speaking of but makes an apt example. like is i said ';okay obama'; because you really don't understand economics, that's an allusion.

btw, a nail does have a head, so personificaion doesn't fit. if you said 'hit it til it cries', that's personification
if u r talking about figures of speech, well, no, it is not an allusion, allusions are adaptations from book, literary or history or other famous art forms. that one is very much like a innuendo (phrases that make sense but its real meaning maybe unknown depending on the intellect of the person u said it to) and yeah, i am sure! LOL
No, that's not an allusion, it's just a saying. Now if that phrase was from something, like a quote by an author or something, it would be, but it's just a figure of speech like ';I'm sweatin' like a pig';
No... It's personification because you are giving humanly features to an inanimate object. A nail doesn't have a head, but a human does. See the significance?
yes...it's all an allusion....even your life is an allusion. you're not really here. BTW, it think you meant expression.
Very good. Take a few points out of petty cash
