My hair has completely fell off at the back of my head, what can be the cause? I tried hair & nails tablets.?

I too have Alopecia Areata. Contrary to old wives tales it is not due to stress or anything you have done. It is an auto immune disease that randomly picks its victims. Nothing you did or didn't do caused it.

Visit a dermatologist to get the right diagnosis for your condition. There are several treatments that may help you get your hair back. Remember too that it can also fall out again. (Been there, bought the T-shirt).

If it is Alopecia get yourself into a support group. Yahoo has several on line and they are great people.

Alopecia areata is sudden patchy hair loss in people with no obvious skin disorder or systemic disease.

No fully effective treatments are available. Typical therapy includes:

* Topical corticosteroids (medium to very high potency)

* Subcutaneous (under the skin surface) steroid injection

* Ultraviolet light therapy

Irritating agents may be applied to hairless areas to promote regrowth

could be a problem with your thyroid. u should see dr. as soon as you can .
The only illness that causes hair loss like this ( ignoring drug induced hair loss ) is alopecia areata. This is an auto immune condition, Typically the scalp underneath looks pink, healthy and normal. See your GP to confirm the diagnosis, this is done clinically, as there are no tests. Unfortunately there is also no treatment, however the condition usually reverses within a year or so and only occasionally goes on to the rarer and longer lasting alopecia totalis.
Stress or heredity.

See your Dr to determine the exact reason so he/she can help correct it.
alot of thing can be the cause the best thing is go see a doctor
Sweet Jesus! You might have alopecia - which is no joke. If you dye your hair though, or use alot of chemicals it might be an allergic reaction. Does it itch? Is it inflammed? Do you live near a nuclear power station?
Hi Olga,

I suggest you see your GP as this could alopecia which is far more common than one would think. It tends to be stress related though in some instances the medical profession do not know how it happens. I think it happened to Gail Porter, though on a far more extreme level.

Hope this helps and don't worry. Also aromatherapy and other alternative therapies are very good with this kind of problem.
You probably have a condition known as alopesha (don't know if that's the correct spelling) you should visit the doctor and see what he says i think this can be related to stress
Alopecia, caused by stress.
Lupus can cause hair loss.
Have you been checked for lead poisoning, some pesticides can be the cause, and also alopecia? My sister has alopecia and her hair falls out after her scalp has hurt for a few days, then the hair comes out and the scalp is super smooth. There are alopecia groups on the web, if that's what the Dr. diagnosis, and they will give you lots of information and support.
