Atheist do you think George Carlin hit the nail on the head with this one?

I aim this towards Athiest as i know what the response from most Theist will be -

# Religion easily has the greatest bullsh*t story ever told. Think about it, religion has actually convinced people that there's an INVISIBLE MAN...LIVING IN THE SKY...who watches every thing you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten special things that he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish where he will send to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry for ever and ever 'til the end of time...but he loves you. [George Carlin, from ';You Are All Diseased';]

Not only is it hilarious, and will ruffle the feathers of many (so to speak) but it has truth to it, even if you are a Theist, i am awaiting your nasty messages!! But what do all the Atheist in Y land think??

Im bored with the normal why don't you believe in God(s) question hahaAtheist do you think George Carlin hit the nail on the head with this one?
I always loved George's no-nonsense take on things. His stuff always struck a chord in me. I saw this clip on YouTube a few days ago...great stuff.

RIP George.Atheist do you think George Carlin hit the nail on the head with this one?
FYI: I'm not an atheist, not a Christian either.

Carlin got it right. Its unfortunate that he didn't include some history in his statement because it would have backed up what he said. Most Christians are unaware of the origins of the history of their church - if they were aware they would probably no longer be Christians.
You naysayers don't seem to understand that he was a comedian...he wasn't trying for the sum of all religion, neither was he trying to hit every commandment. He did enough to show it's ridiculous. That whole special is great.
Absolutely. I love George Carlin's view on religion. Most serious subjects he speaks about he comes out with things that are so funny, but so true. I regret finding out about him only a couple of months after he died.

Bill Maher comes out with some very good points regarding religion as well.
That's my favorite of all George's routines. It's hilarious, and he's not really even doing anything but accurately reciting the basic concepts of Christianity.
Carlin was a brilliant man that had a way of making a point. It's true by the way. You left off some of the funnier bits about

';... and he needs money...';
What a generalization --not all religions believe this story. You should have narrowed it down to the religions who try to force this belief on others.

btw I love George Carlin
Carlin had a gift.

Here's one of his performances on religious B.S.

George was brilliant and not just about religion (make sure you listen to his bit on airplane announcements LOL).

Check out Religulous too. :)
Poor Gorge. It was almost a year ago that he died. He was usually a little crude for me but a lot of the time he did hit the nail on the head about humans and how down right stupid we can be.

Thank you for the question!
He's absolutely right on the money, but unfortunately the mass delusion has already blinded theists from seeing this
Not being an American I have to admit that I had never heard of George Carlin until he had died.

I've been catching up on youtube.

He is/was absolutely brilliant.
Honestly I've never seen much of him until now.

But he's frickin brilliant.
George, as usual, is spot-on!
I thought the bit about the hats was funny
agnostic but ill answer anyways

praise be to science
George Carlin is GOD. He only died because he was bored with this earth........Kinda like the Christian god before him.
George Carlin was awesome. RIP
I love George Carlin!
When I read that, I came to the realization that God is a creeper.
LMFAO! I miss George. :(
First of all, God isn't a man or a girl...he is a being that our minds can not comprehend. Whenever our minds can not comprehend something, we automatically assume it is BS and just stupid. I wonder how many people thought all the great inventors ideas where just stupid until they finally saw the finished product.

One day we will all die, and that die the proof so many people ask for will be shown to them...but by than it will be too late. Everyone talks like they know 110% that God is fake, and yet there is so much that they can't explain. It's a refusal to beleive in something greater than ourselves, and a refusal to beleive that one day we will have someone to answer to for who we are.

It's amazing that despite all the hate towards Him, God still loves you and everyone one of us. He desires for no one to miss out on being in Heaven, but it is our own guilt that keeps us away from Him. God casts no one into Hell, that is a misconsemption brought on by Religious organization who have nothing to do with God...no religion does. Take everything away, all religion, all beleif, all faith, and God will still be God.
i think this typifies an assumption among many atheists that all religions follow the model of christianity.

if you mean 'christian', then say 'christian', because many theists find it as terrible as you do. this whole quote has nothing to do with the vast majority of religions, and really only applies directly to christianity, tho it hits islam pretty close.

many of us 'delusional' theists take a logical approach to our beliefs, it's just that we came to a different conclusion than you. you don't know our experiences, and you can't rule out the possibility of a living universe. unless, of course, you've somehow cracked the mysteries of physics. but then, you wouldn't be here generalizing about all theists if you'd done that, would you?
Just another man that does not understand the Bible.

He is no different than the religious.

Oh, by the way. I hope George Carlin is burning in HELL.

Oh, how Christian of me. Good thing I don't believe in any of that BULLCRAP!

LMAO
George was just a comedian. I don't look to comedians for divine truth-lol.
nah...he's waaaaay off.

his views are only from a westerner point.
What George Carlin revealed is that he understood nothing about the nature and heart of God or even the purpose of the Ten Commandments.

If you want to whine and complain against God, why stop at the 10 commandments? There were actually 100's of commandments given--perhaps even thousands, that governed all of life and society for the children of Israel.

God invites all to draw near to him--he extended that invitation to George Carlin, who evidently, rejected it. I'm sure now he knows a lot more about God.

God extends the invitation to you too. If you seek him, you will find him, but if what you really want to do is argue against him and complain, he lets you do that too.

Blessings.
