When you hit a nail into a board by using a hammer, the head of the nail gets warm.?

Explain in terms of kinetic and thermal energy. describe why the nail head gets warm.When you hit a nail into a board by using a hammer, the head of the nail gets warm.?
Potential of the raised hammer is turned into kenetic energy as it falls.

When it hits the nail, its KE drops to zero (it stops moving) and that energy is transferred into the nail.

Some of this energy may move the nail, but the rest simply heats it up.When you hit a nail into a board by using a hammer, the head of the nail gets warm.?
it is becouse of collioun between the head of the nail and the hammer, when they collieded the molicules stated in both,s outer part becomes warm because of there outher most shell,s fastest motion. there for we feel it warm
TE= TOTAL ENERGY

KE = KINETIC ENERGY

PE= POTENTIAL ENERGY

te1=te2

=

KE1 + PE1 = KE2 + PE2 + Thermal Energy

this the way we answer it in class!

alternatively!

i think this is a better answer!

-there is friction between the nail and the board, which is converting the kinetic energy into thermal energy!

(thats the right answer man!! im sure of it!!!)
